The Pride in Penrith Lottery supports local community group

The Pride in Penrith Lottery has given out its second grant of 2012.  A cheque of £2,908 was presented to Helen Errington, Chairperson of Tirral and Sockbridge Community Area (TASCA) who applied to the Pride in Penrith Lottery to try to raise money for the local community project.

The people of Tirral and Sockbridge have been working together to raise funds to create a much needed community area for the villages. The area will be used by all members of the community for social events, meetings and be an area for children to play.  It will allow people to come together and provide much needed community cohesion.

Helen Errington, Chairperson commented…
“Since the project started it has really brought the community closer.  We all know each other now and have pulled together a fantastic community support network, which hardly existed before.  We’ve worked really hard to raise funds to make the project work, so we are delighted that we have been given a grant by the Pride in Penrith Lottery, which will allow us to complete our project”

The grant will be used to buy some of the play equipment for the TASCA, in particular a mixed toddler/junior swing.  TASCA have been raising funds by putting on lots of community events, therefore the additional support from the Pride in Penrith Lottery was a welcome boost towards the £30,000 that is needed to create the area.

The Pride in Penrith Lottery was set up to help local good causes, charities and not for profit organisations raise money for projects that would benefit and add to the rejuvenation in and around the town and local area.

“We are delighted to be giving a grant to TASCA.  They are such a great group of people who are passionate about bringing the community together and to help improve the area.  This is exactly the type of project we look to help and we encourage more projects like this to come forward and apply for a share of the money we have been able to raise through the Pride in Penrith Lottery.  It is with the help of all the Lottery members that we are able to give money to worthy projects like this and we want to take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who has joined up so far”
