Rabbit’s foot proves lucky for Pauline

Joining Pride in Penrith Lottery turned out to be a good decision for one Penrith resident, who has won £500 in the fundraising lottery’s special draw.

Pauline Studholme’s numbers came up after the draw was launched by a rabbit called Thumper and his young owner Ben Welsh, from Hunsonby, after winning a competition to be the lottery’s Easter bunny.

She was presented with her cheque in Penrith by the lottery chairman Rob Udale, and said she plans to spend the money on a holiday with her sister this month. Pauline joined the lottery several years ago to help local good causes, after hearing about it from a member of the board.

“There are even more opportunities for our members to win money this year, so now’s a great time to join,” Rob said. “We’ll be holding five £500 special draws to celebrate our fifth anniversary, on top of the chance to win the jackpot in our weekly draws, which goes up to £5,000.

“Our members pay £2 a week for a line in our draws, and all the profits are given out as grants to good causes in our area. We’ve given out £50,000 since the lottery began and we’re appealing for new members in our anniversary year, so that we can help more of the local organisations that are the lifeblood of our community.”

The next £500 special draw will be in July, at Penrith Show. To join the lottery and be in with a chance of winning, visit www.prideinpenrith.co.uk/how-to-join or call 07737 049516.
