Penrith games area supported by lottery is officially opened

Children in the Scaws area of Penrith are enjoying a new multi-use games area, thanks to the hard work of a dedicated group of volunteers and support from funders including the Pride in Penrith Lottery.

The play area beside Beaconside School was officially opened on Thursday 19 May 2016 by Penrith's mayor, Cllr David Whipp, after more than three years of planning and fundraising by the Scaws Residents and Tenants Association.

Lottery board members Richard Utting, Charlie Thornton and Maggie Cormode joined in the celebrations at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

"It's immensely rewarding for us to have been able to support a project like this, which will make a big difference to children and families in Penrith," said Richard Utting. "And that's what the lottery is here for. Having a hand in making projects like this come to fruition makes all our efforts worthwhile."
