New sales agents

New sales agents

The board of the Pride in Penrith Lottery is delighted to announce two new sales agents who are helping them raise money for local good causes in the town. Booths and The Wine House of Penrith have come on board as agents for the Pride in Penrith Lottery to help attract and sign up new members, publicise winning numbers each week and be a place where the general public can buy the Pride in Penrith Lottery scratch cards.

The Pride in Penrith Lottery already has several sales agents; however Booths and the Wine House Of Penrith will act as the main outlets for buying the lottery’s new scratch cards, which were introduced late last year. The scratch card offers people the opportunity to win some fantastic cash prizes. The top prize that can be won is £1000, with other prizes ranging from £1 to £100. The scratch cards cost £1 and if the player loses they can be guaranteed that their money goes back to good causes in the town. Richard Sykes, Manager at Booths comments, “What a worthy cause to be involved in and we were delighted when the Pride in Penrith Lottery approached us to be one of their sales agents.

The Lottery has generated a lot of money for the town and local good causes to date, so if we can help raise even more money for them it’ll be great. We’re encouraging all our customers to part with a pound and help make a difference to the town we love” Recently the Pride in Penrith Lottery has gone ‘on line’ and people can now join the Lottery via the internet. However, people can still become a member in more traditional ways and fill in a membership form at one of the sales agent’s outlets. The Pride in Penrith lottery costs £2 a week (less than the price of a pint) and all the money raised goes to improving the town centre, to help local initiatives and community projects.

To date over £10,000 has been donated to good causes (including Hospice at Home, Penrith in Bloom, Eden Community Radio, Carleton Community Project, Sunbeams Music Trust, and the Beacon Wheelers to name a few) and over £15,000 has been given out in prize winnings. Leila Dudson, from The Winehouse of Penrith “We are really keen to help the Pride in Penrith Lottery raise even more money for good causes. Our other company Penrith Building Supplies are founder members of the lottery and many of our customers and staff members have already benefitted from the money donated to Penrith Swimming Club. We have seen that the money that the Lottery donates really helps local projects to thrive…what a fantastic opportunity to be involved!”

The Pride in Penrith Lottery is a not-for-profit organisation and is run by volunteers from the town who are all passionate about making a difference to the local area and raising money for local initiatives. Andy Jackson, Lottery Chairman commented, “We are delighted to have new sales agents on board, who are as passionate about helping local good causes and the town as we are. Their support is invaluable, helping us to promote the Lottery, as well as having a place for us to sell our scratch cards and somewhere where people can find out further information.

We hope with our new sales agents on board we can encourage even more members to join the Pride in Penrith Lottery, sell more scratch cards and make even more money to put back into the town” The Pride in Penrith Lottery functions with the support of members, who donate money each week to the cause. To date the Pride in Penrith Lottery has around 400 members, but the team encourages new members to join to help ensure the future sustainability of the project and raising even more money in the future for the projects that make a difference to the place where we live.
