Lucky Lottery Member in line to win £5K jackpot
One lucky member of Penrith Lottery will scoop the maximum jackpot of £5,000 in Wednesday’s draw, with there being just enough time for new members to join to also be in with a chance to win.
Since being won earlier in the year, the jackpot – which started at £500 – has rolled over, with £100 being added each week, meaning that the guaranteed jackpot draw on Wednesday 16th December coincides with the Christmas period.
“We love having a jackpot winner, and we’re really looking forward to giving one of our members the good news next week! What a time to win £5k, right before Christmas? For one of our members, it will be a terrific end to an incredibly difficult year.” said Penrith Lottery chairman, Richard Utting.
The forthcoming guaranteed jackpot represents an ideal time to become a member of the local lottery with the odds of landing the top-prize greatly reduced. Richard added “It costs just £2 a week to be a member of Penrith Lottery, and paying by Standing Order you’d barely notice it coming out of your bank account. The more members we have, the more local causes we can support to make Penrith a great place to live and work”.
The money raised from membership subscriptions financially supports projects and not-for-profit organisations in and around Penrith through the lottery’s grant funding programme. “Thanks to all of our members, even throughout such a troubling year, we’ve still been able to support some great causes in town and in the villages” Richard said. Through its grant funding, the lottery has supported a wide range of projects, including life skills sessions for primary-aged children, the swimming pool refurbishment in Hunsonby, and equipment for Eden Valley Hospice. More recently they provided funding towards the re-imagined Winter Droving and the town’s virtual Christmas light switch on.
To join the lottery in time for Wednesday’s guaranteed jackpot draw, prospective members can visit www.penrithlottery.org.uk and complete and submit the membership form by Tuesday.
Penrith Lottery is a not-for-profit organisation run by a volunteer committee who all live in Penrith and are passionate about making a difference to the area and raising money for local initiatives.
