Luck strikes twice at The Pot Place with the Pride in Penrith Lottery
It seems that the Pot Place at Plumpton, near Penrith is an extremely lucky place to work as a second employee wins the jackpot in the Pride in Penrith Lottery.
Kevin Roper, who last week scooped £500 in the Pride in Penrith Lottery, is co-owner of the garden centre. Roger Campbell, who also works at the Pot Place, happened to be the Lottery’s first Jackpot winner in 2010. After seeing his colleague win the jackpot, Kevin was encouraged to join as a member of the Lottery and has been a member for over a year.
Kevin was amazed and delighted to win the special Easter draw, which was announced on the 27th March. The philosophy of the Pot Place is to support local suppliers and sell local produce, so they have always promoted the Pride in Penrith Lottery as all the money raised goes back to local good causes and projects. Since the Pride in Penrith Lottery began in 2010 over £24,000has been donated to local projects and has given out thousands prize winnings.
Kevin comments:
“The Lottery is a fantastic initiative. It enables members of the community to put something back into the town to help good causes and local projects that matter to us. I was shocked when I heard I’d won the Easter jackpot, but I’m delighted and will certainly renew my membership; especially if the Pot Place is a lucky place to work!”
The Easter draw comes as part of a series of special draws the Pride in Penrith will make throughout the year, in addition to the regular weekly draw, which currently stands at £1,700. In the past year the Pride in Penrith Lottery has had two jackpot winners, who scooped over £6,000, with many winners each week winnings smaller prize values. The next special draw is due to take place over the August bank holiday weekend and at Christmas time; all with guaranteed prizes of £500 for one lucky winner – all this on top of the regular draw, which takes place each Wednesday and increases by £100 each week.
Rob Udale, Lottery Board Chairman, commented saying,
“We have the opportunity to make special draws throughout the year as an extra special treat for our Lottery members. We hope that Kevin enjoys the prize money and continues to support the Lottery in the future. We want to take the opportunity to thank all our members, but as always continue to encourage others to join up to be in with the chance of winning one of our fantastic prizes!”
The board of Trustees, who are all volunteers, continue to encourage people to apply for grant funding through the Lottery as there is still over £25,000 in the bank waiting to be claimed for projects in and around Penrith.
The Pride in Penrith Lottery is sustained by its 350 plus members. For less than £2 a week money from member’s subscriptions helps contribute to various projects and helps to make Penrith a better place. It is really easy to join the Pride in Penrith Lottery; people can visit the Lottery website and sign up online, or fill out one of the forms which can be found in local shops and through the sales agents (Maggie’s Bakery, The Wine House of Penrith, Booths, Angel Lane Chippy, Sandgate Friary and Town Head Chip shop.
