Lottery gives Winter Festival early Christmas present
Pride in Penrith Lottery has added some extra sparkle to the town’s Christmas merriments, with a grant towards the Winter Festival.
The festival, organised by the Penrith Chamber of Trade, is a jam-packed selection box of entertainment, events and activities, which begins on 29 November and runs up until Christmas Eve.
Lottery chairman Rob Udale broke out the tinsel and Christmas lights early, to present the grant for £1,000 to the Penrith Chamber of Trade.
“The Winter Festival adds a real buzz to the town in the run-up to Christmas, creating a cheery festive atmosphere for local people to enjoy as well as attracting shoppers and visitors from elsewhere,” Rob said. “One of the lottery’s main goals is to help the organisations and projects that are making our area a vibrant place and we are glad to be able to support the Chamber of Trade’s Winter Festival for a second year.”
Amyn Fazal, vice-president of the Chamber, thanked the lottery for its continued backing.
“The Winter Festival lights up Penrith throughout the festive season, bringing together the efforts of dozens of local organisations and businesses into one packed programme of activities for the whole family to enjoy,” Amyn said. “It also puts Penrith on the Christmas map as a destination for visitors. It’s a big undertaking for the Chamber and we couldn’t do it without the support of sponsors like Pride in Penrith Lottery.”
Amyn called on all the town's businesses, large and small, to work together to produce a spectacular Penrith Christmas.
The festival website, penrithwinterfestival.co.uk, lists the growing range of events and activities on offer, with opportunities for more organisations and businesses to get involved. Anyone interested in joining Pride in Penrith Lottery can sign up at prideinpenrith.co.uk or call 07737 049516.
