Jubilee projects benefit from grant funding
It is no surprise that an application came through to the Lottery recently to help fund the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations in the town. A donation of £250 was awarded to the Parochial Church Council of the Parish of St Andrew to help them stage Jubilee celebrations over the bank holiday.
This included screening of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Pageant on the Thames and the Queen’s concert organised by the BBC. Jubilee church services, Jubilee party and Big Lunch were also part of the celebrations, as well as the lighting of a beacon on top of the church, which was included in a network of over 3,000 beacons lit across the country.
The group’s vision was to bring together all members of the community to celebrate the Queen Diamond Jubilee.
