Grant brings silver screen to Tirril

Pride in Penrith Lottery’s second grant of 2014 proved to be a blockbuster for a community hall in Eden. Thanks to the grant of £1,100, Tirril Reading Rooms now has a new digital projector, giving the community’s audio-visual events a cinematic boost.

“The projector has made a difference to our film nights and slide shows,” said Janet Tarn, from the Reading Rooms. “The modern equipment has made the presentations more professional and easier to manage.”

In extending her thanks to Pride in Penrith Lottery, Janet said: “The lottery has supported the village in many ways, both giving us advice and providing much-needed, local funding over the years. We, as a community, are very grateful to Pride in Penrith Lottery for the grants we have received, both this year and in the past.”

Lottery chairman Rob Udale encouraged other community groups and charities in the area to consider the lottery when seeking grant funding.

“We accept grant applications throughout the year from all different kinds of organisations that are working for the good of the community,” Rob said. “We exist to support our local charities and groups, and our application process is very straightforward.”

Janet agreed: “The lottery is easy to deal with, approachable and understands local needs."
