Celebrity sheepish about Pride in Penrith Lottery draw

The mystery Cumbrian celebrity teaming up with Pride in Penrith Lottery for its jackpot draw next week has been unfleeced. It’s none other than woolly A-lister herdy.

Cumbria’s most famous sheep has made room in his busy diary to travel to Penrith on Wednesday 15 October, where he’ll set off the lottery’s online draw and make one lucky member £5,000 richer.

herdy’s publicist, Jane Watson, said the sheepish star was very excited about his forthcoming appearance.

“This is a first for herdy,” Jane said. “He’s been all over the world, but he’s never been asked to launch a jackpot draw before. He loves all the work that Pride in Penrith Lottery does to help community groups in the Eden area, and he jumped at the chance to take part.”

The lottery team are equally thrilled.

“This is also a first for the lottery and we’re quite nervous about hosting such a well-known figure, but by all accounts herdy is very down to earth and outstanding in his field,” said Rob Ewedale, the lottery chairman. “We just hope he doesn’t get mobbed when he arrives, but we have Cumbria Constabulary on standby just in case flock mentality takes over.”

In the interests of security, the draw will take place at a secret location in Penrith.

“Everyone can follow the excitement in real time on our Facebook page,” Rob said. “We’ll announce the time shortly on Facebook, and then on the day we’ll share photos and updates as the draw happens.”

There’s still time to join the lottery and be in with a chance of scooping the jackpot prize. It costs just £2 a week to be a member, which includes entry into the lottery’s weekly draw and £500 special draws throughout the year. Full details and a joining form are on the lottery’s website or call 07737 049516 for more information.
