£5k Lottery Jackpot Pay Out To Uncontactable Winner
Penrith Lottery have revealed that they have paid their latest jackpot draw winner, despite not being able to contact them.
The £5,000 jackpot draw took place on 16th December, however the lucky member has not responded to multiple attempts to contact them. Richard Utting, Penrith Lottery said “We were really excited for our jackpot draw, especially so just before Christmas. And being able to tell one of our members they’ve won and to present a cheque to them is the best part of the role!”
However despite numerous attempts to contact the member by phone and letter, the member has not been traced. As a result the lottery committee made the decision to make a a direct payment of £5,000 to the member’s bank account, but say they have are still waiting to hear from them.
Richard said “Imagine viewing your bank statement and seeing such a large amount being deposited into your account? I hope they were sitting down when they saw it! We would love for the member to get in touch with us so we can congratulate them in person, even though it might only be virtually at present’.
The local lottery has been running for nearly 11 years, and members are urged to notify the lottery if their contact details have changed. Being a member costs £2 a week with the vast majority paying by standing order. Richard said “Our members are a really loyal bunch – I think they sign up, continue to make regular payments, then maybe they move house or change their phone number or email address, and forget to tell us!” Members can email hello@penrithlottery.org.uk to check and update their details.
