£500 up for grabs in Penrith lottery festive draw

Anyone who’d like to be in with a chance to win £500 before Christmas should treat themselves to membership of the Pride in Penrith Lottery – and quick.

The winner of the lottery’s final special draw of 2015 will be announced on Christmas Jumper Day, Friday 18 December. Members of the lottery’s volunteer board will be sporting their festive sweaters at the Christmas Market in St Andrew’s Square, to celebrate an early Christmas present for one the lottery’s members.

“If you’ve been meaning to join the lottery for a while or just fancy a flutter, now’s the time with our £500 draw just around the corner,” said Rob Udale. Members pay £2 a week for a line in the lottery’s jackpot draw, which can be as much as £5,000. All the profits are given out as grants to local good causes, from equipment for village halls and sports clubs to improvement projects like the recent lighting refurbishment at St Andrew’s.

During the summer a Penrith couple won £3,800 in the weekly jackpot draw and there have been several other £500 prizes throughout the year. Dozens of members have also won £20 prizes by matching three numbers in the draw.

Lottery memberships are also available as Christmas gifts.

“If you’re looking for a present for someone who’d enjoy knowing they’re helping the community, a lottery subscription is a great idea and it also gives them a chance to win some money for themselves,” Rob said. “Make sure you get your entry form in by the weekend of 12 December to be in the special draw.”

It’s possible to join the lottery online at www.prideinpenrith.co.uk or by calling 07737 049516.
